Walmart Seller Account Suspended? How to Appeal and Get Reinstated

Why Walmart suspends accounts, the performance standards to check, how to find the real cause, what to put in your plan of action and exactly where to submit it.

The short answer

If Walmart suspends your seller account, read the suspension email to see the reason, check the Performance page in Seller Center to find which standard you missed, fix the real cause in your operation, then write a business plan of action and submit it through the Help menu in Seller Center. A strong plan of action explains the root cause with data, the fixes you have already made and how you will prevent it from happening again.

How to get a suspended Walmart seller account reinstated in five steps: read the suspension email, find the real root cause, fix the operation first, write a plan of action, submit via Seller Center Help
The five steps to a Walmart reinstatement appeal.

A Walmart suspension stops your sales overnight, and the first instinct is to send an appeal straight away. That is usually a mistake. Walmart wants to see that you understand what went wrong and have already fixed it. This guide explains why accounts get suspended, how to find the real cause, what to put in your plan of action and exactly where to submit it.

1. Why Walmart suspends seller accounts

Most suspensions come from missing Walmart's Seller Performance Standards. Walmart measures these over the last 30 or 60 days, and if you fall short and don't improve, it can suppress, suspend or terminate the account. The current standards are:

  • On-time delivery rate: 90% or above
  • Valid tracking rate: 99% or above
  • Item Not Received rate: 2% or below
  • Cancellation rate: 2% or below
  • Late shipment rate: 5% or below
  • Negative feedback rate: 2% or below (one- and two-star ratings)
  • Return rate: 6% or below (9% for resold items)
  • Seller response rate: 95% or above, replying to customers within 48 hours

Suspensions can also follow policy problems, such as prohibited or restricted products, intellectual property complaints or questions about whether products are authentic. In those cases Walmart may ask for supplier invoices, warehouse photos or brand documents.

2. Suppression, suspension or termination?

  • Suppression: some or all listings are hidden. You appeal from the Start appeal banner on the Performance page.
  • Suspension: your selling privileges are stopped. You appeal through the Help button in the Seller Center menu, not the Performance banner.
  • Termination: permanent. Walmart says appeals will not be granted, so act early while the account is still only suppressed or suspended.

3. How to appeal, step by step

  1. Read the suspension email carefully. It states the reason and whether you can appeal.
  2. Open the Performance page in Seller Center and note exactly which standards you missed and by how much.
  3. Find the real root cause in your order data. For example, are lost orders caused by one carrier, one warehouse, or mistakes at packing?
  4. Fix the operation before you appeal. Change carriers, add checks, move items to WFS or remove risky listings, whatever the data points to.
  5. Write a business plan of action describing the violation, the cause, the fixes you've made and how you'll prevent it from happening again.
  6. Attach evidence where it's relevant: supplier invoices less than two months old, current warehouse photos or intellectual property documents.
  7. Submit it through Help in Seller Center, then watch your email and Seller Center messages and reply quickly if Walmart asks for more.

4. What a strong plan of action includes

  • Root cause with numbers: not "shipping problems", but what share of failed orders came from which cause.
  • Corrective actions already taken: specific changes, with dates, that fix the cause.
  • Preventive measures: the checks and processes that stop it happening again.
  • Evidence: documents that back up each point.
  • A clear, professional tone: short, factual and focused on the customer experience, with no excuses or blame.

5. Real example: reinstated in minutes

One of our sellers was suspended for Item Not Received. Instead of sending a generic appeal, our team analysed the order data first and found that 64% of failed orders came from carrier mishandling and 36% from gaps at the packing stage. We switched seller-fulfilled orders to UPS and FedEx with signature confirmation, moved nearly all listings to WFS and added a quantity and variant check at packing, then wrote the appeal around those fixes. Walmart approved it within minutes, and the seller was back to selling. See the full case study.

6. Mistakes that get appeals denied

  • Sending a template appeal that doesn't match your actual data.
  • Appealing before fixing anything, or promising fixes you haven't made.
  • Blaming Walmart, carriers or customers instead of explaining what you changed.
  • Missing documents Walmart asked for, or invoices that are too old.
  • Using the wrong channel, for example the Performance banner for a suspension.

Prevention is easier than any appeal. Watching your metrics weekly and using professional Walmart account management keeps small problems from turning into a suspension. If you're new to Walmart, start with our guide on how to get approved as a Walmart seller.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a Walmart suspension appeal take?

Walmart does not publish a fixed response time. Appeals are handled in the order they are received, and Walmart contacts you with its decision. A clear, evidence-based plan of action avoids back-and-forth that slows things down. In one case we handled, Walmart approved the appeal within minutes of submission.

Can a terminated Walmart account be reinstated?

No. Walmart's own guidance says that if selling privileges were terminated rather than suspended, appeals will not be granted. That is why it matters to fix problems while the account is only suppressed or suspended.

What is the difference between suppression, suspension and termination?

Suppression hides some or all of your listings, often for performance or listing issues, and is appealed from the banner on the Performance page. Suspension stops your selling privileges and is appealed through the Help menu in Seller Center. Termination is permanent.

Does using Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) help?

Yes. When Walmart fulfills your orders through WFS, it handles most performance metrics for those orders, such as on-time delivery and valid tracking. Negative feedback is still counted against you, so product quality and accurate listings still matter.

Can an agency guarantee my account will be reinstated?

No. Walmart makes the final decision, and no honest agency can guarantee it. What an agency can do is find the real root cause in your data, fix it, and present a clear plan of action with evidence, which gives your appeal the best chance.

Walmart account suspended right now?

Send us the suspension email and your Performance page. We'll find the real cause, fix it with you and prepare a plan of action backed by data, with a fixed quote before any work starts.
